Fabricating a Cheap MTB Hitch Rack
A few years ago I decided to start carrying my mountain bike on the front of my Jeep. There's a lot of reasons why I wanted to move it up front... less weight on the tailgate of the Jeep, I didn't like how rear hitch racks wobble around and I didn't like the tire mounted racks. But most of all, it was the chumps on cell phones and bumper riders who convinced me that carrying the bike in the rear... wasn't for me. I spent a few weeks researching various hi... Read More

Pisgah Epic Ride
Posted On 10/07/2008 | 09:17 PM by Mickey
So a bunch of us when up to Pisgah this past weekend for an Epic. The route we took in Pisgah was really brutal! It's still soaking in how tough it really was... But I had a great time and would do it again in a heart beat!
Honestly, I had no idea what we where getting into before we headed out for the ride. I knew it was going to be tough, but not as tough as it was. Hide-sight I would have left the helmet cam at the camp and saved the two pounds it added to my load for food. BUT... I al... Read More

Excuses to get a new bike!• But honey, just think of all the money I'll save on gas when I'm riding the new Fixie to work!• Honey, I've been thinking of ways to cut down on our monthly expenses. I've considered canceling my gym membership, but I still need to get in some exercise. Any suggestions? Then as you discuss alternative ways to stay in shape, drive the conversation towards the idea of getting a new mountain bike.• Tell the wife, you're buying her a new bike. But get the frame yo... Steel, Ti, Aluminum and back to Steel
Posted On 06/03/2008 | 12:44 AM by Mickey
My first real mountain bike was a steel frame. At the time (1994) I really liked the bike and it wasn't bad coming from the first piece of junk I had. But I wouldn't say it was a great bike... more like just a bike, nothing special what so ever! After riding it hard for 2 years, it was beaten up, had some stripped threads in the fixed seat stay cantilever post and the frame had a serious ding in it. So I was in the market for a new frame. It was 1996 and full suspension had been around for a few... Read More
