Francis BeattyNight Ride, Nov 19th, 2008Got in my first winter night ride... well it still might be fall, but it sure as hell felt like winter! Froze my butt off! Okay, it was around 36.8 degrees, for the most part I didn't get too cold except for my hands and feet. Hit the trail at an average pace. Nothing special or difficult about this ride. Climbs where easy, did pick a bad line once, but that's night riding. A few sections of the trail where hard to navigate because of the amount of leaves... Read More
So, this is my first attempt at writing a blog... Who lives or works in/near Kent and wishes there was some decent single track right outside their door? I know I do. I live and work in Kent and ride everywhere but Kent, I'd like that to change. I am not a trail builder nor am I an events planner kind of guy, just a rider who has an idea. I sent an email to Kent Parks a while back and the ball started rolling and it looks promising. We are in the planning stages and looking... Read More
While riding at Sherman Branch yesterday (July 29th, 2008) a bug hit the back of my throat. I tried to expel him with a blast from the lungs, but that only cause him to drop a little further down my throat. It wasn't pleasant for me, that's for sure. As mentioned I tried to expel him with a blast of air from the lungs,... Read More
There’s a lot of history and information floating around about the origins of mountain biking, some that’s recognized and some that depends on who has the best public relations firm. It was August 1896, the riders, black enlisted men and a white lieutenant, rode from Missoula, Montana, to Yellowstone a... Read More
Me and the guys went to Dark Mountain this past weekend. Damn it was cold and Damp. But regardless I was gald I was there and I had a good time, even though I was hacking up a lung full of flem, my toes where frozen and I wrecked twice from the slick conditions. The slick conditions made for a real interesting ride and as twisty as Dark Mnt. is... slick is not a great mix. I often found myself drifting from one side of the trail to the other, nearly sliding right off the trail. It's no... Read More
