It's strange how the little things in life can have such a Profound Impact on your future. This is a story about how our dog Alex, saved our lives with a well placed TURD! About 7 years ago my wife and I decided to go backpacking at Mill Springs in Pisgah, NC. We loaded up our backpacks, took Alex (our golden retriever) and headed off to Mill Springs for the weekend. Francis BeattyNight Ride, Nov 19th, 2008Got in my first winter night ride... well it still might be fall, but it sure as hell felt like winter! For the most part I didn't get too cold except for my hands and feet, which felt like they had frozen to eachother. Hit the trail at an average pace. Nothing special or difficult about this ride. Climbs where easy, did pick a bad line once, but that's night riding. A few sections of the trail where hard to navigate because of the amount of leaves on the... Read More
Sherman Branch, Section Two Click here for a route map. Rolling up a slight gr... Read More

Lucky me, the Sherman Branch mountain bike trails are only 2 miles from my office and it's time to split. At the trail head I check... Read More
Fix that noisy Jeep Rack with a Yakima Fairing I have a Kargo Master (Congo Cage) rack on my TJ... this is a great rack that is easy to use, strong and looks better than most of the racks out there... but at 30 miles an hour it began to make a low hum, 40 mph and it sound like a wind tunnel and 50 mph and above sounded like you had a set of subwoofers kickin at maximum volume on either side of your head. So load that if you have the top down at 60 mph you had to scream just to hear the perso... Read More
