Picked up a flyer for the bike park. Anyone been? I'm more of an XC rider, but enjoy rougher trails too. Don't own a freeride bike - only shorter travel xc bike. Are there trails that that are XC worthy? or is it huck city?
Brochure shows mostly dual crown dh bikes.

I've been interested in check Snow Shoe out for sometine now, I have no clue what's up there and I don't have a ride set up for Huckin at the time. But I won't mind getting my 26 back in action and set it up for more travel. Right now it's a 4" travel Ful Sus., but I can squeeze 5" of travel out of the frame with a rocker upgrade.
When I do get it built back up... Snow Shoe is on my list of places to ride.

I don't remember...

I took a look at their web site and saw that they offered bike rentals. Might be worth the money to get to ride their 6" travel bike! Sounds like fun!
I haven't really ridden much in the way of drops other than what's on typical trails up in the mountains. Would be cool to give it a shot - need to check that my insurance is paid up though!

I rode Snowshoe 6 and 7 years ago so I'm sure they've added a bunch of stunts since. Back then long travel bikes weren't quite as widespread as today.
They used to have a bunch of XC trails, some with big rock gardens and a decent amount of downhill. A 4-inch travel bike would still be perfectly fine in there.

I know they have xc races up there and Granny Gear used to put on a 24 hour race there. Would be a pretty tough course for a 24 hour race climbing wise...
The Granny Gear site doesn't show the race anymore. They have the old results but apparently haven't run the race there since 2004.
Anybody ridden the 24 hour race course or done the Granny Gear race up there???

I would be down for a trip up there (never been but would love to go). They are hosting the powerade rece series this summer. It would be cool to watch the pros blast the downhill course. My 6 inches of travel would be put to use there and not just be training weight like it is riding around charlotte.

Not a bad idea. I let go of all my FS bikes a while back. Haven't really thought about just renting a bike and seriously doubt I'd consider building up a 5 or 6" travel bike, but renting is a great idea. Do you know how long the downhill runs are?

if you are racing the lines take about 5 to 10 mins. if riding, they can take from 10 to 15 mins on the downhill course area. on the freeride side, more man-made stuff to ride around on, 10 to 20 mins. going on a race weekend i think is the best deal it is almost like two days of riding for the price of one day and can ride wherever you want too... renting the bikes there are okay, just pick your own out if you can, take some basic tools and lube, they are rentals so a little beat up. i use a bike use is a fs with 6 inches of travel and done it with a fs of 4 inches travel too... i'm going this weekend, hopefully will not have another flat on my last race run... if you are going there for xc riding, there are a couple of trails to ride on, make sure you take a bear bell and whistle too, been there 3 times alone seen bear in the trees and on the trail... there is a easy dh section down to the bottom and you can always spin your way back up to the top, work on your skills on the way down and pedal power on the wy back up....
